On Integrating Existing Bibliographic Databases and Structured Databases

چکیده
It is widely accepted that future digital library applications have to be built upon diierent kinds of database servers to draw from them diierent forms of data. These data include bibliographic data, text data, multimedia data as well as structured data. In this paper, we address the problem of integrating existing bibliographic and structured databases which reside at diierent locations in the network. To integrate bibliographic data and structured data, we extended the well-known SQL model to represent bibli-ographic related attributes and queries. In particular, we have added a new data type to model attributes in the bibliographic database. We have also designed specialized predicates and functions that can be used to formulate queries on bibliographic data alone as well as queries on both bibliographic and structured data. By combining our SQL extensions with the other SQL extensions that model general text data, we believe that a versatile query language layer can be made available to our future digital library application development.

Distributed Query Processing for Structured and Bibliographic Databases
To support future digital library systems which draw information from different sources on the intemet, we have to provide integrated queries to pre-existing database servers which contain structured, semistructured and unstructured data. In this paper, we specijically examine the problem of querying both existing structured relational databases and bibliographic databases. By adopting the well...

Background & Aims: Some of the main questions which can be of importance for those researchers who intend to perform a systematic review in a field of science are: ‘What databases should I use for my review?’; ‘Do all these databases have the same value?’; and ‘Which sourcesretrieved the highest of relevant references?’. The main aim of this work was the identification of the best database for ...

Over the past few years, XML has become the undisputable lingua franca standard both for semi-structured data representation and exchange format over the Internet, and also content management in various e-business worlds, especially the B2B and B2C enterprise applications. However, most of these organisations still rely heavily on existing relational database management systems (RDBMS) to store...
متن کاملEfficient Frequent Pattern Mining Techniques of Semi Structured data: a Survey
Semi-structured data are a huge amount of complex and heterogeneous data sets. Such models capture data that are not intentionally structured, but are structured heterogeneously. These databases evolve so quickly like run time report generated by ERPs, World-Wide Web with its HTML pages, text files, bibliographies, various logs generated etc. These huge and varied become difficult to retrieve r...

Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR) is a conceptual model for the arrangement of bibliographic records in catalogs and databases which was proposed in IFLA 1997, following a plan for revising Anglo-American Cataloging Rules (AACR). This model is inclined to be separated from the other cataloging rules, and uses a new structure for storing and displaying bibliographic record...
